Aesys is supplying Brenner motorway with a 100+ variable message signs traffic management system.
In 2007 the largest Italian tender for a Traffic Management System (TMS) was awarded to Aesys. The project included more than 100 variable message signs (VMS) deployed along 314 kms of the Brennero highway (A22): one of the most congested routes in Italy.
TMS is the most effective tool when it comes to sending real-time information to highway users – e.g. road conditions, traffic deviations, road work warnings, emergency situations, road hazards including fog, ice, accidents etc. The TMS installed will also be essential in solving several traffic related problems: an experimentation phase is being carried out to implement the use of a “Dynamic Lane” equipped with Aesys full colour Variable Message Signs and Lane Control Signals. The goal of this project is the optimization of vehicle flow by using emergency lanes and by regulating route speed limits depending on traffic and weather conditions.
Aesys products have been EC certified for meeting all quality and performance specifications. During optical performance tests, Aesys products exceeded all the specifications for light output, uniformity, contrast ratio, and beam width.
Signs use full, continuous matrix for more flexibility in the way they make up texts. When you can combine different fonts and character heights – instead of the standard resolution (7x5 pixel) – you can make more effective use of the whole sign to deliver important messages.
