| Aesys signs were strategically placed along over 5.2 km of King Abdullah Road, integrating with a software system through an NTCIP protocol that allows to deliver real time traffic information to drivers and track the current road conditions, to determine and show on speed control signs the ideal speed limit to keep cars flowing. Complete real-time information to increase road safety Inside and outside King Abdullah Road longest tunnel, lane control signs are placed to immediately notify drivers of lane closures in the event of an emergency. There are also full graphic displays that can show other messages, whether for alleviating congestion or for safety purposes. Most important, 11 large variable message signs were installed to give real time multi-language messages to drivers in both yellow text and full color pictograms. The pictogram is made with RGBY technology, adding a yellow LED for an accurate yellow chromaticity. The display can be used to show an abbreviated map of the road, highlighting areas with high congestion and alternate routes. Protection from the Desert Sun To standing up to the high heat of up to 50°C, Aesys developed a special door with a double skin that pumps cool air between the layers to protect the electronics. An additional roof was integrated on the top part to allow the warm air to escape and also protect against the intense solar radiation, keeping the internal temperature in the range T1, complying with the European traffic directive UNI CEI EN 12966-1 which is also used in the Middle East as quality standards. Maximum visibility standard The bright direct sunlight is an important factor in the readability of the display. Aesys VMS were designed to comply with the maximum quality standard of UNI CEI EN 12966-1, meeting the R3 contrast and L3 luminance levels. |
